My Journey as a Beginner Blogger
Hi, I’m Prayukta, a 27-year-old woman from India who recently started a blogging journey. I’ve always loved writing, but I never thought I’d turn it into something profitable. Here’s how I managed to get AdSense approval for my site within a month, despite being a complete newbie!
Choosing the Right Niche
When I decided to start a blog, I wanted it to be about something I genuinely loved. After brainstorming, I chose “Simple Home Hacks” as my niche. I knew I could share tips about home organization, easy DIY projects, and eco-friendly living – topics I was already passionate about.
Setting Up the Site
I purchased a domain and hosting plan from a reliable provider and used a minimalist theme to make my site look professional yet simple. My focus was on creating a clean design with clear navigation, fast loading times, and mobile responsiveness – things I learned were essential for AdSense approval.
Content Creation: Quality Over Quantity
In the first month, I published 10 well-researched and original articles, each 800–1200 words long. I didn’t aim for fluff or filler content; instead, I focused on providing value to my readers.
For example:
I ensured each post had high-quality images (self-shot or free stock images) and an engaging tone.
Building a Sitemap and Pages
I created key pages like:
About Us: Sharing my story and the purpose of the blog.
Privacy Policy: Explaining how user data would be handled.
Contact Us: With a simple form for readers to reach out.
Having these pages in place showed Google that my site was legitimate and trustworthy.
Driving Traffic
To get initial traffic, I shared my blog posts on Pinterest, Instagram, and WhatsApp groups. I also joined Facebook groups related to DIY and home hacks and shared my insights there, linking back to my blog. Within a month, I had about 1,000 unique visitors.
Applying for AdSense
I waited until my site had:
Original content
Consistent traffic
No broken links or errors
Once I felt confident, I applied for AdSense through my Google account. I was careful to follow their guidelines to the letter.
The Approval Email
After submitting my application, I was nervous! I checked my email every few hours. Finally, within 7 days, I received the golden email: “Your site is now ready to show AdSense ads!”
